7 Questions {Linky Party}

Pin It
I'm baaaaack!!
and participating in 7 Questions of course!

My funny photo consists of my pup Bella, who is the comedian of the family. She is seriously human. She cracks me up every day with her awesomely awkward and hilarious faces and poses!

So, now to 7 Questions...

1. Bold or Understated?
It really depends on what we're talking about here. Fashionably speaking, I think I'm a mix of both. I love wearing bold and over-the-top outfits that make people stop and think, but at the same time, I'm all about the classic look. So, I'm sticking with both!

2. You have to survive alone in the wild and you only get to take one thing with you. Your choices are: A pocket knife, a water bottle, or a book. Which do you choose and why?
A pocket knife, because hopefully I can find myself water...and the knife will definitely come in handy for multiple reasons {I have watched Man Vs. Wild on the Discovery channel, duh}

3. Thirty two cows, seven eight chickens, how many didn't?
I have NO idea what the hell this is...fail?

4. Would you rather die doing one legendary act of service or do small acts of kindness that may go unnoticed every day?
100% small acts of kindness. It's all about the little things, right?

5. Happiness is ________. (one word; fill in the blank)
simplicity {it was the first word that came to mind}

6. Can you laugh without smiling?
Uh, sure...can't everyone? But I'm assuming I look super creepy.

7. Do you pop your knuckles?
Yes, all the time. In fact, I just did...

Well, that's all folks!
I think you should join in..
because, well...
it's super fun!

7 Questions Linky Party

Pin It
{Gentri Lee} is back again with 7 Questions!

Here's my funny photo:
Although this photo is obviously not of me, I couldn't resist sharing this! Last  Friday Bella woke up with her lip stuck like this...I almost peed myself!!

1. It's the first day of August - Are you savoring the summer or ready to jump into fall?
Tough question, because I love summer...yes I even don't really mind the heat. But I also love fall, the leaves changing colors, the smell in the air...and this year it just so happens that my two best friend's are getting married in September! Lots of exciting stuff going on over the next two months now! :)

2. You need a quick and healthy meal, what do you make?

Couscous with tofu and either nori or asparagus - super easy, healthy, and delicious!
{adding a little low sodium soy sauce adds a little more flavor to the meal :)}

OR

Caprese Salad - grape tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, and a little olive oil and pepper. So good!
 {I made this salad with Andrew's grandma's fresh basil...even better!}

3. You're at a mall, how do you shop?
I used to take my time shopping, which partly had to do with me growing up with the closest {good} mall being an hour and a half away. But now that I can go to the mall anytime I want, I usually go with a specific purpose in mind. I already feel like that old person who thinks malls are over-crowded and too noisy. {ha!}

4. Would you rather buy a new house or renovate an old one?
100% buy a new house! But not for the reasons people may think. I grew up in the same house for 18 years of my life and then when I moved to Minnesota {from Wisconsin} I've moved a total of 7 times...ugh! And I've lived in places anywhere from being completely ghetto with a crack house across the street to the brand new condo I'm living in now. And what I've realized from all the different places I've lived is that some places I felt extremely safe in {regardless of how "unsafe" the neighborhood may have been} and others I felt completely unsafe. I believe in "vibes" and energy from homes..of the people who previously lived there. Some good...some bad. Moral of the story is, if the place is brand new...then no one else could have lived there...therefore I'll know full well that there won't be any bad energy in my home.

5. Long hair or short hair?
LONG...obviously. Always have...always will.

6. Who is your oldest (not by age) friend?
My best friend in the entire world, Samantha! We've been best friend's since the age of five...so we're going on our 20th anniversary! She's truly the most remarkable individual I've ever known and I'm so blessed to have known her nearly my entire life! I have no doubt that we'll be friends forever!

What is your favorite blog - currently?
I'm definitely guilty of not reading a lot of blogs religiously...but one blog I recently stumbled upon that I love is {Love Chugs}. Weslie's writing is so honest and real...plus she has literally the most adorable family ever!!

Want to link up??
It's fun I promise!

Bloggers 411 Link Up

Pin It
I've been very much neglecting my blog lately...
I'm going to blame it on summer and also not feeling the best lately {booo!}

But I'm back... :)

Today I'm joining up to From Mrs. to Mama's Blogger 411 Link Up...

1. How long have you been blogging? And what got you started on blogging? Has your blog changed?
I've been blogging just since February of this year...although I've started and stopped blogs for at least a few years. Blogging is very therapeutic for me. It's a way for me to get out my thoughts and emotions, while being able to express myself creatively. I feel as though I'm not as attentive to my blog as of late...I definitely want to start dedicating more time here, because it's a big part of what I love to do!

2. Did you go to college? If so where, and what did you study?
I went to the University of St. Thomas {I'm a very proud Tommie!}

3. Where have you traveled?
I've traveled mainly in the U.S...I've driven through a lot of states to get to a destination. But I've actually spent time in Missouri, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington DC., California, Colorado, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Louisiana, North Carolina, Arizona...and probably more that I can't think of right now...and I've also been to Mexico and Ecuador. I can't WAIT to travel to many many more places!

4. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy?
A vacation with all my family and friends!

5. What are your 3 biggest pet peeves?
Honestly, I try not to have "pet-peeves", because it really only bothers/annoys myself...I try to be tolerant...but if I had to choose things that definitely do get under my skin it would be, overly cocky or conceited people, exaggerators and liars {they tend to go hand-in-hand}, and although we have an ice machine now...I used to get super annoyed when the ice trays were empty and no one filled them up {I put ice in everything.}

6. What is your favorite movie?
This is always a hard question, because I love movies. But one movie that has always been a top contender is Independence Day!

7. What is your drink of choice; wine, beer, or liquor. Or Water, Soda, Tea?
I'm definitely a wino {pinot grigio is my fav} but I also love vodka/sodas with a lime. If I'm not drinking alcohol, it's water all the way {jasmine green tea isn't far behind though!}

8. What is something you enjoy to do when you have me time?
Blogging, reading, taking a bath with a glass of wine {my new favorite thing}, cleaning {weird, I know}, or listening to music while laying outside.

9. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be?
Ohhhh tough. If we're speaking clothing, it'd need to be a department store, Bloomingdale's etc., because I don't have just one type of style. But right now I'm craving some new furniture for the condo, so I'd love $10,000 to spend at West Elm {love this place!}

10. Share with us an embarrassing moment of your past? Or present.
I have a horrible memory of my childhood and I'm sure I have tons of embarrassing moments...but I can't think of any right now. But when I first met Andrew {back in January of 2006} for some reason I became a huge klutz. Not just stumbling on the sidewalk or anything...I think I fell down the stairs 3-4 times within a few weeks of knowing him {both sober and drunk} I have no idea why, because I've never been a klutzy person. But nonetheless, I felt like a major idiot!

11. What day would you love to relive again?
Meeting Andrew again. Corny I know, but I wish I could relive it again and know how important he would be in my life {although we both had a severe instant connection the first day we met...we even kissed the first day we met...which I never do. Although vodka was involved...haha}

12. If your life was turned into a movie... what actor would play you?
Rachel McAdams

13. What are the jobs you had in high school/college/the early years?
I've had a lot of jobs {starting work at the age of 12} but the main jobs I've had were bartender, waitress, VIP server, Marketing Intern, Leasing Agent, and then I got into Advertising.

14. Show us a picture from high school or college.
since the first day of college in 2005...friends ever since :)
15. If you could travel anywhere in the world, all expenses paid, where would you go?
Think the book, Eat, Pray, Love...everywhere she traveled!!!

16. Show us the most current picture of you or you, or your family, or anything of meaning to you.
our most recent softball game. a double header and we won both! {whoop whoop!}
17. Where do you see your life 5 years from now?
Being a wifey and a momma...that's all that matters to me :)

Friday's Letters

Happy Friday! I've been lacking on here due to the chaos of the holiday this week.
{{Happy Birthday America!}}

Dear 4th of July, you really rocked my world. But you also made me realize how I'm no longer able to party like I once used to. My body is still recovering.

Big Island again for the 4th of July

Dear work, thanks for not only letting me have the 4th off and get paid for it, but thank you for letting me leave at 2pm the day before (just because you rock!) Dear my Bauhaus fam, although we don't all live in the same building anymore, thanks for being my second family and always make me laugh hysterically anytime I'm around you three!

the best friend's anyone could ask for {and of course my nephew, Dashel :)}

Dear 100 degree summer heat, I love the heat, I really do. But I would appreciate not dripping sweat everytime I step out of my home, work, or car. Let's compromise and be 80 degrees. Just a suggestion! Dear Bell and Zo Zo, I missed you so much last weekend while your mommy and daddy got their party on. Although I know you two had a blast at your grandparents!

photoshoot with mama and zo zo when she got back {because i'm normal like that}
Dear Andrew, I'm very much looking forward to our roadtrip to Iowa to watch Danny and Sarah get married. It'll be a nice break having it be just the two of us... getting away for the weekend, staying in a hotel, enjoying each other, and just celebrating love. :)

Five Question Friday

It's FRIDAY!!
 {I'm just a tad bit happy about this...}

Today I'm linking up to {Five Crooked Halos} Five Question Friday..

1. What's your favorite childhood snack that you still eat as an adult?
It's not really a "snack" technically...but Mac N' Cheese with cut up hot dogs. {if you've never heard of this/tried this...you're probably thinking this sounds disgusting...if you have heard of this/tried this...you're thinking you need to go make this right now! :)}

{source}

2. What food will you not eat the low fat version of?
Cheese!100% will not eat it. I guess props to Wisconsin for providing me with my cheese loyalty..haha.

3. What's your favorite way to cool off during the summer?
A delicious cool adult beverage and a beach or pool. Ahhh :)

4. What's your favorite summer read?
Whatever book I'm getting sucked into at that time...or magazines! I'm such a sucker for celebrity gossip and fashion mags. It's definitely one my big guilty pleasure!

{source}

5. What are you doing to stay cool in this awful heat?
Thankfully I work inside during the day...and then I get to go home to central air conditioning. I lived without central air for 22 years...and I have to say...it's such a luxury to have! So ultimately I only have to endure the heat when I want to...which I do...because I love summer.

Join in the fun and link up to Five Question Friday if you want!
Well, I'm off to softball tonight...
the first game of the new league..wish us luck! :)

Dear Andrew, I'm legit impressed by your grilling skills. Coming home to a meal already made was an exceptional treat. And it was good...like...really good. Feel free to make this a regular activity babe! Dear clients, that you for being so responsive this week and being excited to work with me. It's such a great feeling! Dear Bella and Zoë, I think it's time to install a video camera in our home, because no matter how well I pick up my clothes, you guys somehow manage to hoard my clothes to sleep with them. It's very sweet that you want my scent near you, but I don't necessarily enjoying having to dig through the bed and blankets to find them. Dear Emily Maynard, can I just please be you? Dear bruises all over my body, please go away!! You're ugly and are unnecessarily showing up when you shouldn't. Dear my manager, thanks for being a really awesome guy and helping me out. It's so nice working for great people! Dear Wisconsin, I'll be joining you tomorrow to celebrate the birthday of my wonderful momma and celebrate my papa being an awesome dad for Father's Day!

Five Things I Like About Myself {Listable Life}

Pin It
It's Tuesday, which of course brings me to {Moments That Define Life} listable life,
 Five Things I Like About Myself.

When I first saw what today's prompt was, my first reaction was not to do it. Unfortunately I'm somewhat of a self-proclaimed masochist who simply doesn't give themselves enough credit. But I stopped and told myself, "No, you need to talk about the things you love about yourself!" {actually it was more like, "ugh Cathryn, here you go again, being so god damn hard on yourself!"

After all, my blog is and has been since I started it, a sense of therapy for me...where I can express myself through words with no judgement {although if people do judge me based on my blog, it really doesn't affect me, because they're the ones actively choosing to read it... and it must be at least somewhat interesting to have people keep coming back, right?}

Okay, I have really diverted from the point, so here's the...

Five Things I Like About Myself

1. I'm loyal.
 In my past, I trusted too easily and got burned {badly}. I believed almost too much in the goodness of people and wanted to believe everyone was good and trustworthy. I learned the hard way. And although it was a hard lesson to learn, I'm thankful for the experience. The people in my life now {who I trust in its entirety} I'm 100% committed and loyal to them. I would do anything, absolutely anything for the people I love in my life. I'm blessed though, because all my loved ones make it so easy for me to be loyal. I suppose that explains why I'm best friends with my mother {and extremely close with the rest of my family} and have friendships that have lasted for over 20 years.

2. I'm maternal.
I've talked a lot throughout my blog about how maternal I am, because it's one of the biggest parts of who I really am. Ever since I was a little girl, I've always wanted to help and take care of others. I have this strong desire inside of me to be a care giver and make sure everyone around me is okay. When someone gets hurt or is having a hard time, I feel my maternal instinct coming out to take away the pain. My mother has always said to me that one of the hardest parts of being a mother is watching your children get hurt or go through something that she can't fix...and although I'm not a mother yet, I completely understand what she means. I'll be a real momma before I know it I'm sure, but until then, I'll get my maternal fix through taking care of others...and of course spoiling my two dog babies rotten. :)

3. I'm strong-willed.
Although I'm a very sensitive and emotional person, I'm incredibly strong-willed. I'm a fighter {not towards people, but towards life itself}. I can hold my own and I rarely back down when it comes to something I'm passionate about. I used to be much more opinionated, stubborn, and strong-headed, but as I've gotten older I've realized you can still be strong-willed without coming across as harsh. I stand my ground and rarely get taken advantage of, because I refuse to allow anyone to make me feel less of a person {I do that enough to myself after all ;)}

4. I have zero tolerance for discrimination.
I judge people based upon their behavior and character. I don't care if you're straight, gay, transgender, black, Asian, Jewish, Muslim, Christian, tall, short, fat, or skinny {I could go on and on}....if you're a good and honest person, we'll get along. I truly have zero tolerance for people who judge someone based upon their own ignorant and uneducated beliefs that have been passed down with complete fictitious lies. We're all just people, doing the best in the world to get by....and how dare someone de-value another human being's life based on something as meaningless as the color of their skin, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs. I'll stand strong and fight for equality until the day I die.

5. My morals and integrity.
This somewhat sums of the essence of who I am. I have very high morals for myself and have always believed in doing the right thing, regardless of how hard it might be. I have integrity, because I say what I mean and I mean what I say. I have spent most of the 25 years of my life sticking to the morals and values I have instilled in myself. Everyone has different opinions on what really defines someones morals...what one person views as important...another may not. And I respect that...I really do. I'm not affected by what one person may deem morally right...whereas I deem morally wrong. We all have to live with ourselves, and it just so happens that I choose to live my life in a certain regard...because it's the only way I see fit. I try to live my life honestly, with integrity, and high morals...simple as that. I try not to lie {yes I lie...mainly about stupid little things..who doesn't} but not about big stuff. I personally believe people who lie are lying to themselves. I have never cheated {okay...I've cheated on a test in school} but on another person...never. I would never lower myself to that. I also could never live with the guilt...it would eat me alive. My belief is if you don't want to be with someone, have the courage and respect for that person to end it before it gets to that point. But then again, I know people who have cheated, and they really are good people. They're human and made a mistake, but they told the person...which I respect immensely. I've also never stolen anything {okay, I stole a one cent candy at the grocery store when I was like two} Along with cheating, I also could never live with the guilt if I stole. I don't get how people can do it...but then again, I suppose everyone is different. This is simply my view and it's only up to me to live this way {luckily though, Andrew has the same morals and integrity...it's one of the first things that I gravitated to.}

I am flawed. Incredibly flawed. And there are many things I don't like about myself. But these five things are things I do like about myself I suppose.

 And it's good to remind yourself of the things you like...because often times we focus too much on the negative. Give yourself some credit, huh?
What do you like about yourself? :)

7 Questions Link Up

Pin It
Linking up again to {Gentri Lee's 7 Questions!}

Funny photo:

{this is what happens when my friends and I try on bridesmaid dresses for my best friend's wedding this fall haha}

1. What's your favorite style for home decor? (eclectic, modern, shabby chic, etc.)I definitely love modern, but I also like it to be "home-y" and comfortable as well. Here's some photos of looks I love from my {pintrest} board.

2. What is the best trip you have EVER been on?The best trip I've been on so far is the last trip I took to Colorado {last spring}. I already talked about it once {here.}

3. If you could have an exotic pet, what would it be and why?

A monkey for sure! Although I don't think I'd really like the whole throwing of poop and ripping people's faces off...mmmmm...
4. Do you snore? (you can be honest, we're all friends here.)Me...snore? NEVER! HA! No, of course I do sometimes...when I'm sick or sleeping really really hard. But Andrew says it's not bad. He on the other hand {with all of his allergies} is awful. I usually just smack him in the middle of the night and he stops {kidding...kind of.}

5. Your car breaks down on the side of the road, what do you do?Call Andrew or my best friend to come help!

6. What's one item that has been on your wishlist lately?
This goes back to question #1. We still need some furniture/home decor for our condo. Next purchases will be a nice dining table and patio furniture.
7. It's almost Summer (or winter if you live in the Southern Hemisphere), what are you looking forward to most?
I'm super excited about this summer/fall because my two very best friend's are getting married in September and I'm blessed to be both their Maid of Honors. I can't wait for bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and then of course their big days!!

Five Regrets {Listable Life}

Pin It
Today I will be joining {Moments That Define Life's Listable Life} of Five Regrets {serious or funny}.

 {{disclosure: I try really hard to not regret things in life, because ultimately it's pointless to regret things in your past. It did or didn't happen and it is what it is. But I know we as human being will always have things we wish we would or wouldn't have done.}}

1. Not studying abroad in college. I really wish I would have taken the opportunity while I was in college to study abroad. All my friends who did it said it was one of the best experiences of their lives. At the time, I was a lot more dependent on my family and friends and I think I was too scared to take that big independent step and travel somewhere by myself. I also didn't want to leave Andrew that long either. Now looking back, I wish I would have realized it was a once in a lifetime opportunity and wish I didn't take it for granted. Hopefully I'll just be rich someday and be able to travel the world on my own dime {here's to wishing! :)}

2. Taking life too seriously in high school. I've always felt older than my age and have always wanted to be a "grown up". So with that, I took most things very seriously while growing up, instead of just enjoying being a teenager. I still did all the "normal" things teenagers do, but I never felt completely settled. I think no matter what, I would have felt a bit out of place, but I do wish I could have taken things a bit more lightly and just enjoyed being young.
3. Chewing tobacco. Yes. I chewed tobacco...one time...and I'll never do it again. I was around 16 and was with a couple of my guy friends and I happily regrettably tried it. They told me if I started feeling hot and clammy to take it out because I could get sick. Well guess what? I got sick....yes...even threw up. Never ever again!

4. Not double majoring in psychology. I love everything that has to do with the mind. The way human beings behave and why. I definitely regret not double majoring in psychology. I've always wanted to help people and although I love advertising and what I do, I think it could have opened up some other doors in the future for me.

5. Believing I have to be friends with everyone. Growing up I wanted everyone to like me, and if they didn't....I was devastated. I thought I had to please everyone and the pressure of it all was detrimental to my well being. I wish I would have known then what I know now...that in life you can't  please everyone and there will be people you encounter in life that you simply just don't get along with. The key to this though is you still must be kind and considerate, because how you behave is on you and how someone else behaves is on them.

{Well that's all! Happy Tuesday!}

7 Questions {Linky Party}

Pin It
I'm linking up again to Gentri Lee's {7 Questions}

Here's my funny photo of the week :)

zo zo and I were having fun with 'photo booth'. okay let's be honest..it was just me enjoying it haha {notice my dark hair too?? this was about 2 years ago}

1. You are stuck somewhere you really don't want to be, do you- walk home, call a friend, or stick it out?
It really depends on the situation I guess...what I was doing there in the first place etc. But generally I'd stick it out or call a friend {friends make everything better, right? :)}

2. Do you like to PLAY sports?
I love playing sports!!

3. Everyone has that one "different" song that they secretly love- what's yours?
I love the song called Good Times by Edie Brickell and Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes by Paul Simon.

4. What is one thing you feel you are really good at?

Being a caregiver...especially to my doggy children. I was born to take care of others.

5. A dog is running in your direction and barking loudly- what do you do?
Although I'm obviously a dog lover, I'm very aware that some dogs were never trained properly and could possibly be dangerous. So I always err on the side of caution when it comes to strange dogs {especially when Bell and Zo are around too.}

6. Star gazing or cloud watching?
Star gazing. Growing up in the middle of no where, the stars were always shining bright. I took them for granted until I moved to the cities. Now anytime I see the stars, I always stop for a minute and take in the incredible universe {I also always look for Orion's Belt for some reason.}

7. What time of the day do you feel the most productive?
I used to feel the most productive later in the day and evening, but now I like to wake up and get stuff done right away. It makes me feel less anxious that I took care of what I needed to earlier in the day, rather than leave it until later.

Monday Confessional {Linky Party}

Pin It
Hi friends! Sorry for being quiet all weekend... I really didn't have much time to get on here! It's nice though when you're "too busy" to be on the computer, because you're spending quality time with your awesome friends and your sweet other half. Well today I'm going to join a new linky party called Monday Confessional from {New on U}

1. I confess our place is an absolute mess right now and I'm having really bad anxiety about it. I feel sooooo much better when things are in order!

2. I confess I'm so unhappy with my body right now. I could give excuse after excuse, but it's simply been being lazy and not eating or exercising enough {THIS is going to change!!}

3. I confess I spent wayyyy too much money this week. Between getting my hair colored, shopping, and going out to dinners and having drinks... but a woman's gotta treat herself sometimes, right?? {stay tuned for some new fashion photos!}

4. I confess I'm still struggling to be content and happy in each present moment, but I'm working towards finding it {living in the past or future is really no where to be.)

5. I confess I had one of the best weekends with Andrew in awhile. We've been really busy every weekend with other things that we haven't been able to spend quality time together {we're together all week...but it's just not the same} Six years and he still can make my heart flutter {corny I know.}
Heading to dinner with friends on Saturday night :)
Well there you have it! What confessions do YOU have?? Happy start to a fresh new week! Make it a great one! :)

Five Question Friday {Linky Party}

Pin It
{{Hi friends!! Happy Friday!}}

Today I'm linking up again to {My Little Life's Five Question Friday}. So, here goes nothing! :)

1. What giveaway would you like to do on your blog?
If money wasn't an issue, I'd love to giveway some awesome clothes and fashion accessories. What woman doesn't want to be beautified? :)

2. If you had to choose between natural artistic ability and natural athletic ability, which would it be?
This is tough, because growing up I was always in a different sport throughout the year {gymnastics, basketball, softball, and volleyball were the sports I played} and I couldn't imagine not participating while growing up. But then again, I love all things artistic. I'm very creative and have a huge imagination...but one thing I've always wanted to be better at is drawing/painting etc. Oh, and also have an awesome singing voice {I can carry a tune but that's about it.} Okay, so where does this leave me? Mmmm, I'm going to have a be a stinker
and say BOTH {defeats the purpose but I can't choose!}

3.  Do you ditch the coat the minute it becomes "spring" or are you a holdout for more cool temps?
100% ditch the coat the minute it becomes "spring." I'm not a fan of coats {unless it's for fashion purposes.} They're just so bulky and annoying. Ugh. So, the slight opportunity that I think the weather is getting nicer, I retire the coat {hence why I haven't worn one for about a month now...even though I'm cold today haha}

4. What would you do if you won the mega millions lotto of 1/2 billion dollars?
First...scream at the top of my lungs {probably do a little get-down dance!} Then I would do the responsible thing and get a lawyer to figure out what the best next steps would be. THEN, I would take a ridiculously outrageous vacation with all my family and friends {live the good life for awhile} Then I would get back to reality and pay off our debt and families debt. I would also start some sort of foundation or charity for children with a bad home life and children without families. I'd also start an animal adoption shelter for rescuing and
finding homes for animals without one.

5. You are at a hotel by yourself...what do you do?
